Sara Canella Co-Authors Innovative Study on Youth Mental Health Prevention
We are proud to announce that Sara Canella, a key member of NSBproject, has contributed as a co-author to a groundbreaking scientific article published in Frontiers in Digital Health (2025). This milestone underscores NSBproject’s expanding expertise not only in applied digital innovation but also in cutting-edge academic research at the intersection of technology, health, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
The paper, Multidisciplinary perspectives on personalised prevention in youth mental health, brings together international researchers from diverse fields — including psychology, computer science, nutrition, economics, digital innovation, and public health — to outline visionary strategies for personalised, preventive approaches to mental health challenges in adolescents.
Abstract (Summary)
Mental health disorders significantly impact individuals and societies, with adolescence being a particularly vulnerable stage due to a combination of behavioural changes and socioeconomic disparities. Recognising early warning signs and delivering timely support remains a major challenge. This article proposes future directions and recommendations for effective preventive strategies through a multidisciplinary lens.
Key proposals include:
-
Development of holistic, individualised, AI-based mobile health (mHealth) interventions that leverage smart and passive data from digital biomarkers.
-
Conducting participatory research to ensure user acceptance and real-world relevance.
-
Evaluating cost-effectiveness and identifying barriers and facilitators for integration into regular healthcare systems.
By combining AI methodology with user-centred design and cross-sector expertise, the authors highlight how digital innovation can play a central role in preventive mental health care, aiming to enhance well-being and resilience among future generations.
