January 29-30, 2025 – the KOM
NSBproject is proud to announce its active participation in the TORNADO project, a visionary Horizon Europe research and innovation initiative that aims to revolutionize adaptive cloud robotics using state-of-the-art artificial intelligence technologies. Funded under the Horizon Europe programme, TORNADO is dedicated to developing next-generation robotic systems capable of advanced navigation, real-time cognitive adaptation, and dexterous manipulation in complex, human-centred environments.
The official kick-off meeting of the TORNADO consortium took place in Athens, bringing together leading research institutions, technology partners and industry experts from across Europe to define the roadmap for this ambitious project. Partners are united by a shared mission to push the boundaries of autonomous robotics and human-robot interaction by harnessing cloud-based foundation models and adaptive AI frameworks for real-world use cases.
In TORNADO, NSBproject plays a key coordination and innovation support role, contributing expert strategic guidance on project governance, cross-cutting dissemination, stakeholder engagement and policy alignment. Leveraging its deep experience in European research and innovation ecosystems, NSBproject supports the consortium in maximising impact, ensuring broad uptake of results, and strengthening links with relevant EU initiatives and policymakers.
“Our involvement in TORNADO underscores NSBproject’s commitment to fostering breakthrough innovation at the intersection of AI, robotics and societal benefit,” said Andrea Jester of NSBproject. “By facilitating collaboration among top European partners and aligning research with EU strategic priorities, we help ensure that TORNADO delivers sustainable, inclusive and impactful solutions.”
Through its participation, NSBproject strengthens its reputation as a strategic partner in large-scale EU research and innovation initiatives, contributing not only to technical excellence but also to the elevation of European competitiveness in robotics and artificial intelligence. The TORNADO consortium’s work aligns with broader EU ambitions to lead in digital technologies and create societal value through responsible, impactful innovation.
